Since 2013
History
From a Tuesday pickup game in Los Yoses to LINAFA's third division. Thirteen years, six organized seasons, and one whole year when nobody played.
- 2013
A standing pickup game in Los Yoses
Roots began as a Tuesday pickup game between neighbours and UCR classmates. The name came from the music playing in the car that carried the balls. There was no tournament that year, no roster, no kit — just a booked pitch and people who showed up.2013Year on the crest - 2016
The first tournament
First formal registration, in a neighbourhood league in Montes de Oca. Josué Vargas arrived this season and is still here. We finished seventh of eight and lost the consolation final.1.ªOrganized season - 2019
Crest, kit and captain
The year Roots started to look like a club. The crest with the leaf and the three colours was drawn, the first set of shirts was bought, and Josué Vargas took the armband. Kevin Mora and Marco Céspedes both arrived that year. - 2020
The year nobody played
No tournament, no training, no pitch. The group held together on a group chat and not much else. It is why the crest says 2013 and this is only the sixth organized season — there were years when Roots existed without playing. - 2023
Into LINAFA
Registered with LINAFA Region 5, Goicoechea, Third Division. A real federation, real officials, and team sheets due on Thursday. The biggest jump in the club's history.R5LINAFA region - 2025
Open trials every Tuesday
Trials were opened to anyone who turned up at Zapote on a Tuesday at eight. Four players in the current squad came through that door, including Elián Zamora, who scored against Ipís.4Players from trials - 2026Today
